Mistletoe Therapy

Harnessing the Power of Nature in Cancer Care

Mistletoe therapy has been utilized in integrative oncology for over a century, particularly in Europe, as a complementary treatment alongside conventional cancer therapies such as chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy. At Cincinnati Integrative Oncology and Functional Medicine (CIOFM), we incorporate mistletoe therapy into personalized treatment plans to support immune function, mitigate side effects of conventional treatments, and enhance overall well-being.

Benefits of Mistletoe Therapy

Mistletoe therapy is not a standalone cancer treatment but serves as an adjunct therapy to improve treatment tolerance, promote immune resilience, and support quality of life. Research and clinical experience have demonstrated its benefits in several key areas:

✔️ Immune System Modulation – Mistletoe extracts stimulate natural killer (NK) cells and other immune components, enhancing the body's ability to recognize and respond to cancer cells.

✔️ Reduction in Treatment-Related Side Effects – Patients receiving mistletoe therapy often report lower levels of fatigue, nausea, and inflammation associated with chemotherapy and radiation.

✔️ Enhanced Quality of Life – Improvements in sleep, mood, energy levels, and appetite contribute to a better overall sense of well-being.

✔️ Tumor Growth Regulation – In some cases, mistletoe therapy has been observed to support tumor stabilization or contribute to regression.

✔️ Potential for Improved Survival Outcomes – Preliminary research suggests that mistletoe therapy may contribute to increased survival rates and prolonged remission in select cases.

Mistletoe Therapy at CIOFM

Mistletoe therapy is primarily administered through subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injections, typically three times per week. The initial dose is administered in-office to ensure proper technique and patient comfort. After this, most patients can self-administer injections at home with ongoing guidance from our clinical team.

  • Initial Consultation and First Dose: Administered in-office – $175 for the starter kit.

  • Ongoing Therapy: Estimated at $350 per treatment cycle. Pricing may vary depending on the specific formulation, dosage, and sourcing requirements.

Because mistletoe therapy requires careful monitoring and personalized dose adjustments, it is available exclusively to CIOFM members. Regular follow-ups allow us to tailor treatment to each patient’s individual response, ensuring both efficacy and safety.
