Helleborus Therapy

At Cincinnati Integrative Oncology and Functional Medicine (CIOFM), we offer Helleborus Therapy, a botanical treatment used in European integrative oncology for over a century. This unique therapy supports the body’s natural defenses, enhances well-being, and works alongside conventional cancer treatments to improve patient outcomes.

Helleborus niger, also known as the Christmas Rose, is a medicinal plant with a long history of therapeutic use. In integrative cancer care, Helleborus Therapy is valued for its ability to support the immune system, reduce inflammation, and help manage symptoms associated with advanced and metastatic cancers.

A Natural, Supportive Therapy for Cancer Care

Helleborus Therapy for Cancer Care

Benefits of Helleborus Therapy

Helleborus Therapy offers a range of benefits that support immune function, symptom management, and overall well-being. It works alongside conventional cancer treatments to help patients better tolerate therapy and maintain a higher quality of life.

✔️ Inhibits Cancer Cell Growth While Sparing Healthy Cells

Helleborus contains bioactive compounds that may selectively target cancer cells while protecting healthy tissues, reducing unwanted side effects common with conventional treatments.

✔️ Reduces Inflammation and Supports Immune Function

By modulating the immune system and lowering inflammatory markers, Helleborus Therapy helps create a less hospitable environment for cancer growth and may enhance the body’s natural defenses.

✔️ Improves Circulation, Mental Clarity, and Well-Being

Helleborus has been used to support blood flow, cognitive function, and energy levels, helping patients combat fatigue, brain fog, and overall treatment-related stress.

✔️ Helps Manage Symptoms in Cases of Brain and Lung Metastases

This therapy is often used to provide symptom relief for patients with neurological or respiratory complications, such as headaches, cognitive impairment, shortness of breath, or persistent cough.

✔️ Supports Tumor Stabilization and May Slow Progression

Helleborus Therapy is commonly integrated into treatment plans for aggressive or metastatic cancers, with some patients experiencing a slowing of tumor growth and better disease management over time.

✔️ Alleviates Tumor-Related Pain and Improves Comfort

By reducing swelling, improving circulation, and modulating pain responses, Helleborus Therapy may help relieve tumor-related discomfort and enhance daily function.

While not a replacement for conventional cancer treatments, Helleborus Therapy serves as a powerful complementary therapy that enhances resilience, improves well-being, and supports the body’s natural healing processes.

Helleborus Therapy at CIOFM

Helleborus therapy is primarily administered through subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injections, though in some cases, nebulization or oral drops may be used. The initial dose is administered in-office to ensure proper technique and patient comfort. After this, most patients can self-administer at home with ongoing support from our clinical team. The first dose of subcutaneous is administered in-office.

Pricing may vary depending on the specific formulation, dosage, frequency, and sourcing requirements. Additional shipping costs may apply for European formulations. Inquire with your provider about availability and pricing.

Because Helleborus Therapy requires careful monitoring and personalized dose adjustments, it is available exclusively to CIOFM members. Regular follow-ups ensure treatment is tailored to each patient’s response for optimal efficacy and safety.
